It wasn't many years ago that farmers would ask, 'Why do I need a GPS system?' Today the question is much more likely to be, 'Why would you bother buying a tractor that is not fitted with GPS?'

The Leek Division, based in Hastings, now covers 14ha and produces 1.2 million leeks annually, for export to the Japanese market. A key part of the operation falls to a Deutz-Fahr 5105.G tractor that arrived on the farm nine months ago and quickly become a firm favourite with the team.

In the 38 years Doug Haigh has owned and developed his coastal Taranaki dairy farm he has learnt a thing or two about finding machinery that is up to the task. He reckons he has found tractors that definitely make the grade; his two 5 series Deutz-Fahr tractors.

Back in June 2018, local Power Farming dealer Capital Tractors delivered a new powerhouse for the operation. A Deutz-Fahr F320, a brand new four-wheel drive tractor to replace an ageing 2WD tractor that had been at the property for many years.

Deutz-Fahr 5G series tractors have recently been updated. This move broadly synchronises the specification of the two models which will be joined by a third, more powerful tractor by the end of the year.

Its Italian Same cousin won Machine of the Year 2019 at the SIMA show in Paris. And now the arrival of the Deutz-Fahr Series 5D TTV will give specialised users another choice in a competitive market.
